Holiday Sugar Cookies

Just about everyone has their cookie, and sweets of all kinds play such a big role during the holidays, so we thought we would include for you our recipe for sugar cookies. All that is missing is your creative decorating, and we encourage you to use sprinkles, your favorite frosting, and even berry preserves, like in the photo above.


1 Cup Sugar

3/4 Cup Soft Butter

3/4 Cup Shortening

Mix together at medium speed really well with an electric mixer.

Add 4 Eggs, one egg at a time, while continuing to mix

Add 2 Teaspoons vanilla or almond extract

Mix together at medium speed until well-mixed.

Sift together:

5 Cups Flour

2 Teaspoons Salt

2 Teaspoons Baking powder

Add to the rest of the mix and continue mixing until smooth.

The batter may be used right away by rolling on a floured board, or refrigerated for a day.

Roll 1/4 inch thick, cut into desired shapes, and add your desired sparkles.

Bake for 8-9 minutes at 375 degrees.
